Grassroots Heritage in Scotland Glasgow to North Ayrshire Roadshow
When & Where
Event Details
You are invited to the Grassroots Heritage in Scotland Glasgow to North Ayrshire Roadshow, part of the Scottish Community Heritage Alliance's 'Grassroots Heritage in Scotland' project, funded by Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Further information about SCHA and the Grassroots Heritage in Scotland can be found on our website at www.scottishcommunityheritagealliance.org.
We are running a series of 12 community heritage roadshows across Scotland. The sixth of these roadshows will be the Glasgow to North Ayrshire Roadshow on Saturday 1st February 2025 at Johnstone Town Hall.
The roadshows are a mix of talks, displays, networking and discussions on important topics that matter to local heritage organisations in this region. A local steering committee has been established to ensure discussion topics reflect local interests and concerns. Our two confirmed speakers are:
Iain Ross Wallace from the Scottish Stonemasons' Marks project, who will be speaking about the project with a local focus on the work at Paisley Abbey.
Marjorie Perotto from Historic Environment Scotland, who will be telling us about the Our Past, Our Future strategy.
Marjorie's presentation will be followed by a special discussion session to gather your views on the strategy, which is a tremendous opportunity for grassroots organisations to have a say on heritage policy at a national level.
We hope to confirm our third speaker very soon.
The event is open to anyone with an interest in community heritage. All heritage organisations in attendance are also encouraged to have a stall that will allow them to showcase their work and provide a point of contact for networking. The day will begin with setting up of stalls at 10am and we will be finished by 4pm. Lunch will be provided and we also have a limited number of travel bursaries to assist those who would otherwise struggle to afford to attend. Simply let me know if you would like to be considered for a travel bursary and I will send a form for you to apply.
Please email scottishcommunityheritage@gmail.com if you would be interested in attending the event and in having a stall, indicating the number of people from your organisation that plan to attend.
We hope to welcome you at the Grassroots Heritage in Scotland Glasgow to North Ayrshire Roadshow!
