“A year in the life of an ORCA Ocean conservationist”.

Christine Murdie is a Scientist with a background in education.
She can trace her interest in wildlife and conservation back to her early childhood. Her first sight of a bottlenose dolphin was on a trip to the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth. That one sighting was just the start; she was hooked. Since then, she has been lucky enough to spend many hours on land and at sea, identifying and photographing these creatures and her fascination for these animals just keeps growing.
Christine first heard about the charity ORCA in 2014. ORCA or Organisation Cetacea is a very small charity based in Portsmouth who are one of the leading whale, dolphin and porpoise charities in the UK. Christine became a Marine Mammal Surveyor in 2017 and, having completed several ferry surveys for ORCA, she became an Ocean Conservationist in 2019. She thoroughly enjoys being able to share her enthusiasm and love of cetaceans with others and raising awareness of how important these animals are to the health of the marine environment.
