Hands of Iron - A history of Midwifery in Glasgow
When & Where
Event Details
It’s often forgotten that the field of midwifery, and more broadly obstetrics and gynaecology, has a unique relationship to Glasgow’s medical heritage. The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow was one of the earliest corporations to recognise and regulate midwives, and several of its notable members were leaders in the development of obstetrics, including William Hunter and William Smellie. Join us as we reflect on the history of childbirth in Glasgow and discuss the significance of the city in the development of midwifery with Dr Mark Skippen.
Please Note: This event is now online only. A link to attend the Teams Meeting will be sent to you on the day. The event will start at 6pm BST on Thursday 5th May 2022.
